The 3rd Cologne Conference on Lung Cancer (CCLC 2025) was a complete success: Up to 400 participants from across Europe and beyond gathered in Cologne on June 26 and 27, 2025, to discuss current developments, challenges, and innovations in lung cancer research.

Under the scientific direction of Prof. Caroline Dive (CRUK Manchester, UK), Univ.-Prof. Dr. Roman Thomas, Univ.-Prof. Dr. Reinhard Büttner, and Univ.-Prof. Dr. Jürgen Wolf from the University Hospital of Cologne and the Medical Faculty of the University of Cologne, the conference offered a high-caliber program with presentations by leading national and international experts from research, clinical practice, and industry. Topics such as precision oncology, immunotherapy, new biomarkers, and individualized therapy concepts were the focus of the discussions.

"The overwhelming response demonstrates how highly topical and relevant the topic of lung cancer is – both scientifically and socially. Our goal was to promote interdisciplinary exchange and provide impetus for the future of lung cancer therapy – and we succeeded," concludes Prof. Thomas, Head of the Department of Translational Genomics at the University of Cologne.

In addition to scientific exchange, the conference also offered a platform for networking and interactive discussions. A special focus was placed on young scientists: a total of six Poster Awards and Flash Talk Awards were presented to outstanding contributions from young scientists to recognize and promote their excellent research. Among the award winners were Dr. Lucia Torres Fernandez, Dr. Christina Bebber, and Dr. Jenny Ostendorp, as well as members of the Department of Translational Genomics.

The next edition of the CCLC is already being planned.
